First of all Kurumba is really nice place anyway, staff is absolutely great, food is ok but.... This place is located too close to the airport - all day and evening there is a noise of departing aircrafts and airplane taxis. View from our amazing beach bungalow for Male and industrial zone was very much disappointing. I am sorry to rate this place low but going to Maldives I was expecting quiet place and pure nature. Anyway, let me highlight, the staff and service were excellent. If you do not mind noisy air traffic and city/industrial view it will be good place for holidays.
This magical island continues to maintain consistently high standards underscored my attentive and warm staff members. Always there but never over familiar, the attention to detail and passion to always find solutions to satisfy our requirements quiet simply elevated this trip from an amazing holiday to a superlative experience. Recommend the Japanese (Hamakaze) restaurant and Thila for first class food and service. The Indian and Thai were also excellent. You may notice occasional aircraft noise and see some other built up islands due to close proximity to airport but from most of Kurumba offers uninterrupted stunning sea views. The manager, Andrew Jannsen has a great team but special compliments go to Anwar in Thila, Hassan the F&B manager and Brian in Hamakazez. This is my third visit here and the second with the family - great for kids here - we’ll be back!…
We have just returned from the most amazing trip from Kurumba, and we could not have wished for a better holiday. The resort is beautiful, colourful plants everywhere, amazing house reef and great restaurants (big choice of food and drinks). The breakfasts are great, we could choose from two different restaurants, both with plenty of choice and great service. Out of restaurants, we tried several, namely Hamakaze, Khing Thai, Athiri 2 BarVilhamanaa for breakfast, Thila, Kandu Bar, and Caffe. Each of them is unique and offers great dishes with fresh ingredients. The staff is very kind, with great service and always making you feel welcome. The cabins are spacious, well-equipped and located conveniently around the island. We were impressed to see the fresh herbs garden, coconut oil press, water bottling station and other things that make the resort more sustainable. We visited Mayaa recreation center on several occasions, to borrow snorkelling equipment (every day free of charge, amazing), for the excursions, games (table football, table tennis), photo studio, activities (yoga and island tour) and excursions (we definitely recommend shark safari, unfortunately we ran out of time for stingray safari). There is a great range of activities with very kind staff. The heart of Kurumba are its people, the staff. Everyday I was impressed with their kindness, willingness to help and hospitality. Even though everyone contributed to our experience, we would like to give a special mention to yoga coach Fikar, Munaaz and Zayaan from Mayaa recreation center, F&B manager Hassan, Joy from the reception, Chathub from Athiri 2 bar, Marty from the photo studio and Azmeel from Thila restaurant. Thank you for making our stay so memorable!…
Actually, this is the third visit to Maldives and first visit to Kurumba, One of the oldest resort in Maldives….. Thanks to Mr Hassan Ibrahim - Responsible for the daily operation of all the Restaurants & Bars. @ Service at a high level, from all the staff … A great stay to consider if you're visiting Maldives. House reef with sharks….. one of the finest places I've been snorkeling. We'll be back again
Trip started with the hotel upgrading our rooms that were just a few yards away from the sea. The rooms and the overall resort was absolutely clean and well maintained. With two kids, the day bed was a blessing. The staff were polite and provided great service wherever we went. Chef Nanda specially ensured that my daughter who was picky with food was given chicken nuggets per her choice, although it was not on the menu. He followed through the entire trip with less spice food just for her. Shout outs to chef Viji Mani, Chef Pratheep, Bandara, Amjed and Mahesh for great service, ever accommodating attitude and pleasant conversations. My kids loved the staff at the kids club - they were so engaged and entertaining and kept the girls busy. The staff that helped with our snorkeling trip were amazing too - gave us good practice sessions and we swam alongside a shark! The house reef hosts beautiful marine life. Just a couple thoughts to consider - we don't waste food, so when my daughter left behind a muffin after taking a bite, I requested one of the staff member at the restaurant to give me a bag or a tissue to carry that muffin along. He said its not hotel policy to allow that. I understand the hotel policy of not allowing guests to take buffet food to be packed and taken along, but our intention wasn't so, which should have been evident since we were on an all inclusive package and it was a half eaten muffin. Second reco I had was around keeping some body wash/shampoo bottles/fixtures near the tub and the open shower area as we were unable to use the ones fixed on the wall in the enclosed shower area. The glass bottom boat was beautiful but the timing of 2 pm was such that it was right after lunch, all of my family felt quite queasy and could not enjoy watching the marine life as much. I recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes to go to Maldives, it is very close to the airport (we did not mind the view on one side to the city of Male) and it provides a luxurious stay.…
